Year 7-8 Incursion

This incursion helps Year 7 & 8 girls navigate the move from the familiar environment of primary school to the challenges of high school. It explores the importance of staying organised, essentials of nutrition, including balanced meals, key nutrients like proteins, carbs, and fats, healthy study snacks, hydration, and the link between food and mood. The program also highlights the importance of sleep for performance, covering optimal sleep duration, its impact on energy, mood, and academic success, the benefits of tech-free bedrooms, and understanding sleep cycles for improved focus and wellbeing.

Module 1 – Simple Strategies to Get Organised

Years 7 and 8 are a time of significant transition for young girls. As they move from the familiar environment of primary school to the challenges of high school, staying organised becomes essential. Module 1 aims to inspire students to cultivate small, consistent habits that contribute to their overall growth and development.

Module 2 – Fuelling Your Body: Nutrition Basics for Growing Teens

This module teaches the essentials of nutrition for physical and mental growth, including the importance of balanced meals for energy and focus. Students will learn the basics about key nutrients like proteins, carbs, and fats, discover healthy snack ideas for study time, and understand the importance of hydration. We’ll also explore how food affects mood, helping students make choices that boost both their body and mind.

Module 3 – Sleep: The Secret to a Healthy Mind and Body

This module highlights the vital role sleep plays in maintaining a healthy mind and body. Students will learn about the optimal hours of sleep needed for peak performance and how a good night’s rest affects energy, mood, and academic success. We’ll also discuss the importance of keeping technology out of bedrooms to create a mindful and relaxing environment and explore how understanding your sleep cycle can improve focus, productivity, and overall wellbeing.

Year 7-8 Pick and Mix Modules

1. Embracing Your Unique Self

This module helps students develop self-worth and confidence by embracing their individuality. We’ll explore the importance of accepting imperfections, surrounding yourself with supportive friends, and building a positive, empowering environment with like-minded people.

2. Healthy Social Media Habits

This module helps students understand how social media impacts self-esteem and body image, and how to set healthy boundaries. Students will learn to find balance online and create positive, supportive digital spaces that boost confidence and wellbeing.

3. Move It! Exercise Strategies to Energise

This fun, energising module helps girls discover how exercise boosts both body and mind. Learn how regular movement—like dancing, yoga, or team sports—supports energy, mood, and mental clarity. We’ll also touch on how your energy levels change throughout the month and share tips for exercising before bed or exams to feel your best!
